Add a DMARC record to your custom domain

Follow

Gmail and Yahoo email providers require you to add a DMARC record to your domain so that you can send emails from your branded email address.

Here's a couple of resources to that will show you how to check for and add a DMARC record to your custom domain:

PLEASE NOTE: These are the general steps to add a DMARC record to your Domain, and the example DMARC record provided here includes minimum requirements. We recommend that you review the DMARC requirements from your domain provider.

Follow the general steps below to add a DMARC record to your domain:

  1. Log in to your domain host
  2. Locate the page where you can update the DNS records (In GoDaddy, it's Manage DNS)
  3. Add a TXT record for DMARC:
    1. In the Record name/DNS host name field, add _dmarc. Some domain hosts automatically add the domain portion, such as _dmarc.example.com. After you add the TXT record, verify that it's formatted correctly.
    2. In the Text Record Value field, add v=DMARC1; p=none;.

For specifics on p=none, review the DMARC record glossary item.
